Partnership Delivers Carrier-Class Network Data Management

Solutions To Japanese Market, Extends XACCT's Leadership in Region

XACCT Technologies, Inc., a leading provider

of network data management solutions for global communications service providers, today announced that it has formed a strategic alliance with Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT, TSE:6501) to offer telecommunications carriers a complete network data management platform for IP and voice networks. Hitachi, one of Japan's largest systems integrators, selected XACCT's real-time Network-to-Business (N2B(R)) Platform as the solution-of-choice for its telecommunications carrier customers because it is the most comprehensive, carrier-class platform that enables carriers to develop new value-added services and generate new revenue streams.

XACCT's Network-to-Business (N2B(R)) Platform enables telecommunications carriers to understand IP data, mobile and circuit-switched voice network usage trends and leverage that insight to create value-based services to match customer needs. The N2B Platform provides a bi-directional, real-time link between the physical network infrastructure and the business support systems, for network usage and automated service provisioning.

"Our telecommunications customers, which include Japan's largest and most innovative carriers, need a solution that provides a detailed understanding of network traffic in order to maximize revenue from their IP and voice networks," said Shinji Asai, general manager of Hitachi's Network Systems Solutions Division. "We chose XACCT because the company is known worldwide for providing the only proven, carrier-class solution for effective network data management. Combined with our rapid and reliable integration capability, XACCT's N2B Platform will allow our carrier customers to quickly bring new services to market and increase revenue opportunities for them."

Under the terms of the agreement, Hitachi will provide pre- and post-sales support as well as integration assistance for XACCT's software solutions to its customers in the Japanese market. The partnership enables Hitachi to offer specialized professional services to its customers to ensure smooth integration of XACCT's platform with carriers' back-office systems such as billing, CRM and other business and operations support applications.

"Hitachi is one of the largest IT companies in the world, and a trusted partner in Japan's carrier market," said Eric Gries, president and CEO of XACCT Technologies. "Our alliance with Hitachi gives us a great opportunity to extend our market leadership in Japan, a key region for our company's growth."

The partnership follows the recent incorporation of XACCTJapan, Ltd., an independent Japanese company formed by XACCT.

"We are delighted to have Hitachi as a strategic business partner," said Gil Itkin, managing director of Asia-Pacific at XACCT. "We are looking forward to a long and successful relationship between the two companies."
