Georgia System Operations Corp. increases employee productivity

and information exchange while reducing costs

Stellent(TM), Inc. (Nasdaq:STEL), a global provider of content management solutions, announced today that Georgia System Operations Corp. (GSOC), the nation's largest electric cooperative system operator, is increasing business efficiencies and realizing cost savings using Stellent(TM) Content Management to manage content on its intranet.

GSOC implemented Stellent Content Management to combine three distinct organizations' document repositories into a single enterprise platform. The energy companies -- Oglethorpe Power, Georgia Transmission and Georgia System Operations -- have 750 non-technical employees that contribute content to the Stellent Content Server in native formats such as word processing, spreadsheet and graphic files. The system automatically converts the content into a variety of Web formats, such as HTML, XML and PDF.

"By empowering non-technical employees with the tools to manage and publish content on the intranet, the Stellent system has freed up some of our IT staff to work on more critical IT systems projects," said Gary Williamson, chief director of information technology for GSOC. "Before the Stellent implementation, our storage requirements were growing almost uncontrollably. Our three companies stored data haphazardly on our Novell file server system, so there was never one place for storing or sharing company content. Stellent Content Management has enabled us to create an intranet site for the hundreds of thousands of documents already in our existing system, generating cost savings as well as increased productivity for the companies."

Stellent's robust security and personalization features enable GSOC to provide its three companies with a shared intranet, allowing appropriate cross-company access to documents while giving each separate company its own secure portion of the intranet. User profiles authenticate employees' company affiliations and access rights on the intranet, ensuring employees only access content they are entitled to see. The Stellent system also provides users with unique interfaces to the intranet based on their profiles.

"GSOC, in a high-pressure utility market, has turned to Stellent Content Management to help it gain control over an enormous volume of business content, including word processing, graphic and multimedia files," said Vern Hanzlik, president and chief executive officer for Stellent. "GSOC is a prime example of how companies worldwide are gaining efficiencies and reducing expenses by using our content management technology."
