HCL Technologies Joins Mainframe Migration Alliance.

NEW DELHI, India -- Alliance Helps to Facilitate the Migration of Mission Critical Mainframe Systems to Microsoft Windows Server System Software

HCL Technologies, a leading global IT Services provider, today announced that it has joined the Mainframe Migration Alliance (MMA), founded

by Microsoft and industry partners. The MMA brings together IT industry leaders, tools, developers and global system integrators with a common commitment to help their customers reduce the cost of maintaining and modernizing their IBM and other mainframe systems.

The Alliance provides a variety of tools, resources and materials to help organizations address the challenges posed by owning and maintaining legacy application environments. The growing business need for reducing IT costs, the shrinking pool of internal programming and management skills and the need for greater flexibility in Information Technology systems, is driving the demand for migration from mainframe systems to more agile and flexible Microsoft Windows Server System software and Microsoft .NET environments.

Commenting on the alliance, V.S. Sriram, Corporate VP, HCL Technologies, said, "HCL is excited to be a part of this new initiative. Working with Microsoft and the MMA, HCL will assist its customers to migrate seamlessly from mainframes to Microsoft server software. Having worked extensively on mainframes and the Microsoft platform for clients globally, HCL is ideally positioned to undertake such migrations thereby helping customers benefit from reduced Total Cost of Ownership offered by Microsoft platforms."

"With its experience and knowledge of mainframes, HCL is in a position to provide valuable assistance to our mutual customers that want to migrate from less-flexible technologies, like z/OS, onto the more agile and cost-effective Windows Server platform," said Spyros Sakellariadis, Mainframe Migration Alliance Director for Microsoft Corp.
