Kaspersky Lab despairs at computer users' lack of interest in virus prevention.

INTERNET BUSINESS NEWS-(C)1995-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

The data security software developer Kaspersky Lab reports that its technical support department has received tens of thousands of messages from France, the US, Canada, China, Russia, India, Argentina and many other countries

around the world, reporting infection by the network worm 'SirCam'.

Only detected on July 18, the worm seems to have already succeeded in spreading across the globe and has seized first place among the most wide-spreading malicious programs, Kaspersky notes.

According to the company SirCam's spreading ability confirms the fact that many users have not learned their lesson from the previous global epidemics and have not grasped the importance of anti-virus updates and the use of caution when dealing with e-mail attachments from even known sources.
