WAP portal launched in Dubai.

INTERNET BUSINESS NEWS-(C)1995-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Two Internet-related companies - ewadi FZ Llc and arabianbiz.com - have jointly launched what they claim to be the Middle East's first mobile portal.

at.cell.com, which went live in Dubai (the United Arab Emirates)

on 4 July, will focus on the Middle East by offering regional content such as news, financial information, entertainment, yellow pages and 'what's on' services for movies, concerts and conferences and will also provide global news, views and information. Other features include an e-mail channel and the use of push and pull technology to determine the position of the user for the supply of location-specific information.

The portal is driven by Oracle's Portal-to-Go software which enables content from web sites and databases to be converted for display on WAP-enabled mobile devices. The bulk of the site's content will be delivered using WAP technology from arabianbiz.com's news and entertainment web site.
