The latest monthly survey of ISPs by the UK government's Office for National Statistics shows that UK Internet connectivity rose by 4.1% in November 2004, over November 2003.
The survey revealed that dial-up Internet connections continued to decrease with a year-on-year fall in November 2004 of 18%. From October 2004 to November 2004 dial-up connections fell by 2.5%. The market share of permanent Internet connections continued to rise and represented 37.7% of all subscriptions in November 2004, up from 36% in October 2004.
The Office for National Statistics said that the increase in permanent connection subscriptions together with the decrease in dial-up connections reflects the public's move away from dial-up connections to faster broadband, cable and leased line technologies.
