Picture finding your boardroom packed with strangers, oblivious to your presence, vigorously discussing your stock performance, debating the merits of your new product, questioning your CEO's leadership abilities, or denigrating your entire enterprise. An equivalent version of this happens in real time, 24 hours a day, as unseen pundits, provocateurs, and malefactors celebrate, criticize, or attack companies, boards, and executives in the expanding sub-universe of Cyberspace known as the blogosphere.

In 1998, there were 23 self-published online journals known as weblogs, or blogs. Today's global number of somewhere between 40 and 100 million multiplies by the second, including the popular video versions, called vlogs. Around 20 new blogs launched since you began reading this article, with roughly 300 new comments supplementing the collective dialogue.
