Denmark-based Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) has selected two major components of Boole & Babbage Inc.'s Command MQ for comprehensive management and automation of its intricate global MQSeries middleware infrastructure. The components will maintain availability of critical SAS applications
SAS has over 500 disparate application and system platforms. The company implemented IBM's MQSeries to simplify the task of connecting the diverse applications, and selected the Command MQ components to manage the complexity of its IT environment from a single point of control. SAS's data center monitors and controls equipment maintenance systems, accounting systems, reservation systems, crew scheduling, statistics, load control and aircraft allocation.
"We concluded that Boole & Babbage is the only vendor in this domain that already manages similarly complex, multi-vendor/platform environments," says Bjarne Karpantschof, system software manager of IBM operations for Scandinavian Airlines Data. "It is the only solution that would allow us not only to manage the middleware, but also any external enterprise elements that might affect it. These Command MQ components will well position our company to face the business and IT challenges of 1998 and beyond." Boole & Babbage is headquartered in San Jose, Calif.
