Net6, a network-based application transformation gateway provider, is now shipping its Telephony Transformation Gateway (TTG) designed to deliver screen based applications to IP telephones from Avaya (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of communications networks and services for businesses. The combined solution enables organizations to use their 4620 and 4630 IP screen telephones as intelligent information appliances to improve employee productivity, increase accuracy of data entry, enhance customer satisfaction, and reduce the cost of application delivery.
The combination of Avaya Enterprise Class IP Solutions (ECLIPS) with Net6's TTG delivers new and existing business applications for interaction on the screens of Avaya 4620 and 4630 IP telephones. Lead customer solutions include enterprise applications such as e-mail, calendar, business dashboards, broadcast announcements, time clocks, and order entry, as well as vertical applications that include education attendance, hotel guest services, and retail services for price and inventory checks. These applications can be delivered simultaneously to Avaya's IP telephones as well as to wireless PDAs running Avaya's IP Softphone for Pocket PC.
"Application transformation and delivery to the screens of IP telephones is one of the key catalysts that will accelerate the migration from traditional telephone networks to IP telephony," said Joe Gagan, senior analyst for data communications at The Yankee Group. "The Net6 Telephony Transformation Gateway combined with Avaya's telephony market leadership position, is an ideal match to deliver new customer value."
Net6 is a Premier member of the Avaya DeveloperConnection program. The Net6 TTG has successfully completed the required Avaya compliance testing that ensures interoperability with Avaya products and solutions. With TTG pricing starting at $3,995, IP telephone-based applications are now within the reach of organizations large and small.
"Avaya continues to develop new and cost-effective ways to deliver useful applications to the screens of users' IP telephones," said Jorge Blanco, vice president, Product and Solutions Marketing, Converged Systems and Applications Group, Avaya. "Utilizing Net6's Telephony Transformation Gateway, these customers can take advantage of their applications from the screen of any 4620 or 4630 IP telephone, whether they are at their desk, in a conference room or a public area."
The TTG is the first network-based appliance that transforms applications into formats that are suitable for interaction with the widest range of IP screen telephones. The TTG resides within a corporate network, and its patented technology intelligently transforms applications to different IP screen telephones without the need for expensive, proprietary applications. The TTG enables companies and service providers to leverage applications that they have developed for PC access instead of creating IP screen telephone applications from scratch. Organizations can use their Avaya IP screen telephones as a cost effective alternative to PCs, computer terminals, and other data entry devices such as time clocks.
"By delivering applications to IP telephones, Avaya and Net6 bring new, visible user productivity improvements to the IP telephony business case above and beyond the cost savings of voice over IP," said Gordon Payne, chief marketing officer of Net6, Inc. "Customers can see clear, added value and cost savings from the use of advanced IP telephones for voice and application delivery."
The TTG is available immediately from Avaya and leading Avaya Business Partners. List pricing starts at $3,995.
