LEARN2.COM TO PROVIDE ONLINE TRAINING FOR UP TO 16,000 LABOR DEPT. WORKERS: Award Supports...

Learn2.com, the White Plains, N.Y., provider of online learning solutions, and partner Innovative Management and Technology Approaches Inc. (IMTAS), have been awarded a contract to provide online training to up to 16,000 US Dept. of Labor employees nationwide. Labor officials say the award

reflects their efforts to comply with Executive Order 13111 ("Using Technology To Improve Training Opportunities For Federal Government Employees") signed by President Clinton on January 12, directing federal agencies to take steps to enhance federal employees' training opportunities through the use of technology.

DOL employees at all levels will have access to a co-branded Learn2University site offering courseware for soft skills, end user desktop applications, networking and Web technologies. "Our partnership with Learn2.com is a total team effort which has addressed the demand and implemented, in minimal time, a Web-based training solution to help enhance technical and non-technical skills that facilitate the Dept. of Labor's Life Long Learning Initiative," says Curtis Michel, IMTAS vice president of Operations. IMTAS is providing program management and other technology services under the contract.

The new DOL award, "combined with our previously announced agreement with Law Enforcement Online, represents Learn2.com's continuing foray into government agencies," adds Kevin Riley, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing at Learn2.com. "We are pleased to have been selected by the Dept. of Labor to provide their employees with advanced online learning solutions, and we believe that our interactive online training capabilities are the most effective means of educating a workforce.

Learn2University is a web-based training solution that provides users with instantaneous access to interactive, multimedia (audio, graphic animation and text) courseware across the Internet without the need for hardware upgrades or time consuming download. It allows users to access learning anytime, from anywhere with minimal system requirements including a 28.8 modem or faster, and a 486 16MB RAM computer.

The site offers an extensive catalog of over 250 interactive multimedia tutorials on popular business applications such as Office 2000, 95 and 97, Windows, Microsoft Certified courseware, programming, network training, the Internet, financial applications, soft skills and more.
