Desktop publishing software giant and Xerox subsidiary Ventura Software Inc. of San Diego, Calif., is strengthening its position in the European marketplace by acquiring Graphics Technology Group (GTG), a privately held firm based in Maidenhead, United Kingdom. GTG, formed in 1988 to develop electronic publishing software and provide desktop publishing solutions to corporate customers, is the developer of Ventura DataBase Publisher, which has been marketed internationally by Ventura since October 1991.

Ventura has also reached a deal with Archetype of Waltham, MA., to license Archetype's Windows-based page layout and advertising production software technology to develop and market professional programs that compliment Ventura Publisher for Windows. Ventura will target the new software at graphic designers, ad agencies and corporate communications departments.
