Kenda Systems Inc., a Salem, N.H.-based software services company, has acquired the temporary technical/contract services operations of Essex Corp. of McLean, Va. Kenda CEO Steve Kenda says the deal puts his company in "the first tier of service providers in the metropolitan Washington marketplace."

Jan Woodring, formerly an Essex vice president, assumes day-to-day responsibilities for the consolidated Washington, DC, area operation at Kenda. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
