Fed govt vendors to merge.

FED GOVT VENDORS TO MERGE... Verdix Corp. of Herndon, Va., and privately-held Rational have signed a letter of intent to merge. Verdix makes compilers and other software development tools. Rational is a provider of object-oriented development tools and technical services. Both companies do a

lot of business with the federal government. The tax-free merger would be accounted for as a pooling of interests. For the three months ended June 30, Verdix revenues were $4.7 million with a net loss of $68,000. Rational of Santa Clara, had income of $617,000 on $35.7 million in revenues for the first nine months of 1993.
