Ben Bauman Award for Excellence

HEADNOTE

Professor Ben Bauman, James Madison University, spent more than 20 years as an active member of WIS, much of that time as Treasurer and Board member. His dedication to both the organization and his profession are well known,

and we will miss his wise counsel and love for life. Ben died last year, and ICIS has established the Ben Bauman Award for Excellence in his memory. Criteria for selection for the award include: (1) long and outstanding service or (2) junior faculty that show exceptional promise and excellence. Ben spent much of his academic career mentoring junior faculty, helping them develop their skills in both teaching and research. Service to IACIS and his university, along with his contributions to other professional organizations, was also very important to him. It is our intention to accept nominations of senior faculty with an outstanding record of service along with nominations of junior faculty showing great promise. For the first year, an award will be made for each category. In future years, one nominee will be selected from all applications for the award. Presentation will be made at the annual meeting.
