Cisco Systems announced that SAVVIS Inc., a global provider of managed and outsourced IT services, has selected the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series switches as the networking infrastructure for its next-generation Hosted Area Network architecture.

As part of this multi-phased, multi-year technology initiative, SAVVIS will replace many of its legacy switches in favor of Catalyst 6500s starting at its primary data center near its corporate headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri.
