A simple to operate, fully portable autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) that uses standard geo-referenced charts from NOAA or USGS or satellite images is being introduced by Ocean-Server Technology. The 42-pound Iver2 Man-Portable AUV can carry a variety of sensors and includes rechargeable lithium-ion smart battery packs that can provide a mission duration of more than 10 hours at three knots on a single charge. Featuring Windows-based software that permits point-and-click mission planning, the WiFi-enabled system lets users download time-stamped, geo-referenced mission data while the vehicle is in the water or after the project is completed.
