EDISON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 13, 2001

Mobiliti, Inc., a leading developer of software products for managing mobile data, today announced that it is releasing the newest version 3.0 of its flagship product, Network/Unplugged. The first in a series of mobile data management products, Network/Unplugged 3.0 offers patent-pending and proprietary technologies, Application-Independent Write Monitoring Technology and Intelligent Delta Selection Process (iDESP); these ensure that data is synchronized, refreshed and backed up regardless of the PC operating system, application or communication method and transmit only the portions of files that have been changed.

Network/Unplugged provides a comprehensive and automatic synchronization and backup solution for today's remote and mobile workers. Because it is lightweight and scalable, no major changes or investments need to be made to the network and server infrastructure, and can be easily deployed to tens of thousands of users. The product's synchronization and backup process can be configured to be completely automatic without any user intervention, to take place on system startup/shutdown, scheduled at specific times of the day or on selected days.

Noteworthy in Network/Unplugged is its ability to replicate the network structure of an enterprise onto users' laptops, creating a virtual network environment in which the same mapped drives, network names, hierarchies, links and shortcuts are available to users in the disconnected state. This provides a smooth and seamless transition between connected and disconnected states and enables users to work comfortably and productively. Changes made to files and folders are easily synchronized and backed up to the network using the proprietary technologies of Network/Unplugged, which transfer only those portions of the files that have changed. This ensures that users are able to synchronize and backup easily and quickly over any connection, whether it is wireless, dial-up, VPN, WAN, or LAN.

The latest release includes a number of new features that have been driven by requests from customers. New features include the Intelligent Delta Selection Process (iDESP), which selects the most efficient of three (3) Delta Differencing Technologies so that only the portions of files that have changed are transmitted. Synchronization and backup functions have been enhanced with the addition of "any to any" synchronization capability, which enables any folder to be synchronized to any other folder. The Synchronization Server functions have been extended to provide full Proxy Synchronization Server capabilities. This enables synchronization and backup to be performed with Novell Netware Servers over dial-up networks, and synchronization with network file servers over the Internet. In addition, the Proxy Synchronization Server allows users to work in the "Virtual Network" mode while synchronization and/or backup processes are performed in the background completely transparent to the user, when network connectivity is established via wireless, dial-up or LAN connection. Additionally, the latest version enables multiple users using the same PC, to have access only to their respective projects and files.

ADDRESSING DATA CURRENCY NEEDS OF MOBILE WORKERS

A rapidly growing company with new products launching every 100 days and thousands of remote and mobile workers, Novartis Pharmaceuticals is a global leader in the healthcare industry. Server to server connectivity along with the most efficient management and maintenance of remote servers is important to Novartis. According to Greg Bilsky, Head of Emerging Technologies for Novartis Pharmaceuticals US, "When you have lots of people working remotely you want to ensure that the data they access is the most current version available -- and that it is backed up and synchronized transparently. In addition Novartis wants the connection to that data to be as seamless as possible for the users. In Network/Unplugged we have found a product that meets our needs for data currency, backup and recovery."

According to John Girard, VP and Research Director with market research firm, Gartner Group, "Remote and mobile users experience long sessions and work disruption and derive little benefit from traditional LAN-based backup and synchronization solutions, as they assume that the user is on a high-speed LAN. In this scenario, remote users will tend to avoid performing backups, and any loss of files will jeopardize the user's work. A robust remote backup and synchronization solution will play a significant role in enabling traveling and remote users, and reducing remote user downtime and support."

Network/Unplugged offers a simple and scalable architecture and is a full cross-platform solution. It is available in client only and client/server configurations. The client software can be installed on all Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000 workstations. Network/Unplugged 3.0 works with Windows NT/2000, Novell Netware, Solaris, Linux, Lantastic and other network file servers and supports IPX/SPX, TCP/IP and NETBUI protocols and works on LAN, WAN, RAS, VPN and wireless connections. The Network/Unplugged Synchronization Server software is required to leverage the iDESP technologies, ensuring that only the changed portions of files are transmitted. Network/Unplugged is licensed based on the number of PC's on which it is installed; prices per user range from $59.95 (client only) to $124.95 (client/server configuration), and is now available.
