Virus112 broadens scope of business to include general IT
security consulting
Virus112 A/S, a wholly owned subsidiary of euro909.com A/S (Nasdaq ADS: ENON), Tuesday announced
Several Danish firms have already signed consulting agreements with Virus112 for the new service, which has been branded, "Virus112 Network Security." Customers can contract Virus112 to perform periodic security audits of their corporate networks, servers, and applications to identify potential security vulnerabilities and to recommend precautionary measures.
"With the flux of new viruses and prevalence of computer hackers, Virus112 has seen a boom in sales for our virus surveillance service and identified additional opportunities to broaden our security consulting," said Niels Henrik Rasmussen, chief executive officer of Virus112.
"Internet and hacker technology unfolds so rapidly that most businesses and institutions don't have the in-house resources to maintain adequate Internet security measures.
"In fact, IT security consulting services represents the largest single IT services opportunity in Western Europe, according to Gartner Dataquest, and is expected to grow to $2.6 billion by 2005, up from $1.1 billion in 2000."
In conjunction with its extended services, Virus112 has hired additional staff and expanded into the Norwegian market with a Copenhagen-based sales team. Virus112 has also decided to relocate its Swedish sales team from Copenhagen to a new office in Malmo, Sweden.
Two additional value-added services will also be offered by Virus112, "Emergency Response Unit," a 24x7 incident response team for hacker victims; and "Security Warning Service," an informational service to educate IT staff on security issues.
Virus112 will routinely introduce new security solutions to its customers, including VeriSign's Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) products that are designed to secure intranet, extranet, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), and e-commerce solutions. The VeriSign products are sold through a reselling agreement with another euro909.com subsidiary, EuroTrust.
Virus112 operates on a positive cash flow basis and forecasts break-even profitability.
