Gilat Satellite Networks selected for broadband satellite network in Russia.

Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd (Nasdaq:GILTF) announced on Thursday (9 February) that it has been selected to provide a broadband satellite communications network to Russian Post, a Russian operator of postal offices, retail establishments

and provider of telecomms and financial services.

Under the agreement Gilat will deploy a SkyEdge VSAT hub station in the Siberian capital city of Novosibirsk. The network will provide broadband Internet access, always-on data communications for postal applications and telephony services to remote postal facilities throughout Siberia and far-eastern Russia.

Gilat said that the initial order is for several hundred sites.

Financial details were not available.
