Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS), a supplier of high-performance power products, has announced the FSA201 and FSA221, its new integrated multi-media switches.

According to the company, the FSA201 and FSA221 compact double pole/double throw (DPDT) analogue switches integrate both USB and negative swing (low-distortion) audio switching functionality into a single package and are particularly suited for use in popular electronic products that demand high functionality in a limited space.

FSA201 and FSA221 switches are said to improve system performance by enhancing signal quality, at the same time reducing current consumption and extending battery life due to their low on-resistance (RON=3Ohms), while their high (10kV) ESD protection enhances system reliability.

The FSA201 USB 1.1 Full Speed (12Mb/s) device is available in a 1.6mm x 2.1mm MicroPak. The FSA221 USB 2.0 Hi-Speed (480Mb/s) device is also available in a UMLP (ultra-thin molded leadless package), measuring 1.4mm x 1.8mm x 0.55mm, the company claims.
