Chip maker Intel Corp has announced the availability of four new chipsets for the Pentium 4 processor.

The enhanced version of the Intel 850E chipset and the new Intel 845GE, 845PE and 845GV chipsets are each intended to improve the level of PC performance when a Pentium 4 processor is present. All new offerings support Intel's Hyper-Threading Technology which enables software programmes to run as though there were two processors available and contain six USB 2.0 ports.

The enhanced Intel 850E chipset has a dual-channel PC 1066 RDRAM memory while the Intel 845GE has a 266MHz graphics clock, a 533MHz or 400MHz system bus and DDR333 main memory support. The 845PE chipset offers DDR333 memory and AGP4x support and the Intel 845GV features DDR266 main memory capability and a 533MHz or 400MHz system bus.

Pricing for the 845GE, 845PE, 845GV and 850E has been set at USD37, USD34, USD28 and USD40 respectively. All prices are for the chipset in 1,000-unit quantities.
