According to Abilis it is the first semiconductor fabless company to propose a single-chip mobile TV solution, which integrates the RF tuner and demodulator on a 90nm RF CMOS process. It claims the process improves the power consumption and RF characteristics of the company's designs.
Abilis will also add its RF clock synthesiser into IBM foundry's Ready for IBM Technology programme, as part of the agreement. It said it had selected IBM for the high performance of its RF CMOS process and the quality of the RF design kit, which have enabled the company to meet its time-to-market and technical aims.
Abilis said its customers will be able to rely on the manufacturing capabilities offered by IBM to meet their volume, quality and continuity of supply requirements.
