Hewlett-Packard unveils new colour inkjet printers and print servers.

US-based Hewlett-Packard Co has introduced a new portfolio of colour printing and imaging systems for small and

medium sized companies.

The portfolio comprises three colour inkjet printer families - the HP Color Inkjet Printer cp1160, the HP Color Inkjet Printer cp1700 and the HP Business Inkjet Printer 2600 - and two print server families - the HP Jetdirect 200m/250m and the HP Wireless Print Server wp110.

The cp1160 printer family features two-sided printing, up to 400-sheet paper capacity, infrared connectivity, support for Microsoft and Macintosh operating systems and optional networking. The second printer family, the cp1700, is designed for personal use or small businesses and offers wide-format colour printing and optional networking. Finally, the HP Business Inkjet Printer 2600 provides wide-format colour printing. Features include support for media up to 13 x 19 inches and an embedded web server to allow remote management from a standard web browser.

The HP Jetdirect 200m and 250m are internal print servers specifically designed for the cp1160 and cp1700 printer families. The servers can be used to link the printers to the Internet and to allow company employees to share printers. The other new print server, the wp110, allows multiple PC or Mac users to connect and share HP peripherals on an 802.11b wireless network.

The HP Business Inkjet Printer 2600 is scheduled for release in March 2002, priced from USD999. The other products are available in the US and Canada immediately. Pricing for the cp1160 and cp1700 printer families begins at USD399 and USD499 respectively while the print servers, the HP Jetdirect 200m, HP Jetdirect 250m and HP Wireless Print Server wp110, cost USD199, USD259 and USD299 respectively.
