US revenues for consumer design services reached USD77bn in 1999 - report.

The US computer systems design and related services industries had total revenues of USD165bn in 1999, up 18% from USD140bn a year earlier, according to new figures released by the US Commerce Department's Census Bureau.

The report shows that revenues for custom computer programming services increased 19% to USD62bn in 1999, computer systems design services were up 14% to USD77bn, computer facilities management had a 28% increase to USD15bn while other computer-related services were up 29% to USD10bn.

An overwhelming majority (94%) of revenues in the computer systems design and related service industries were reported by firms with paid employees. These firms had USD154 in revenues in 1999 compared to USD131bn in 1998.
