Greetings! As the newly elected officers of ACM-SIGMIS, we would like to thank all of you for your votes. Your support of ACM-SIGMIS is greatly appreciated. We would also like to take this opportunity to introduce our new ACM-SIGMIS Information Director, Parag Pendharkar. Among Parag's responsibilities is the promotion of communications via our sigmis-members@acm.org listserv. While we haven't yet had much activity on this email list, it is a resource available to all members.

We are excited to introduce the First Annual ACM-SIGMIS Reception to be held as an ACM-SIGMIS event prior to the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS2001) in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, December 16 - 19, 2001. Light refreshments will be served. All ACM-SIGMIS members and their invited guests are welcome to attend:

Who: All ACM-SIGMIS members and their invited guests Effective with this issue, our current Data Base Co-Editors, Mark Keil and Eph McLean, both of Georgia State University, cycle off after serving as Co-Editors for a number of years. We wish to thank them again for the excellent job they have done in building the quality of our quarterly refereed journal.

I am also pleased to report that in response to our recent call, we received several excellent Formal Proposals to become the new Data Base Editors. Please look for the announcement of our new Data Base Editors, to be made soon via the sigmis-members email list.

Again, thank you for your support. We encourage your comments and suggestions. Should you have any questions, ideas, or other input, please feel free to contact one of us. Enjoy this issue of Data Base. We look forward to seeing you in New Orleans!
