$ecurity Support Services spending to skyrocket.

Spending for security software support services in the U.S. will climb from $551 million in 2003 to $808 million in 2008, according to a new study from IDC. Unlike other parts of the infrastructure, such as servers and storage, most IT departments don't have the necessary resources to properly

run and maintain security systems. Customers of these security solutions rely heavily on their software providers to bridge this gap, and software vendors are ready to fill the need. Most offer some type of 24x7 or mission-critical support service. Online support is offered by many of those surveyed, though the breadth and depth of this support varies dramatically.
