spot market
market in which commodities or currencies are sold for cash and delivered immediately. Trades that take place in futures contractS expiring in the current month are also called spot market trades. The spot market tends to be conducted Over The Counter-that is, through telephone trading-rather than on the floor of an organized commodity exchange. Also called actual market,cash market or physical market.
