Keeping track of everybody’s schedule as a working mother is probably one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced and I’ve come up with a strategy that I use and that I think may be beneficial to you as well.

If you take a look at this, this is our schedule and I do one of these for each month. What I’ve done is that I’ve created a table in Microsoft Word and I’ve placed our names across the top of the table. So you’ll see each name is a member of our family. And then in the last space is a workspace so that I can write in elements, things that I have to do for work. And then down the lefthand side of the page are the numbered days of the month, so 1 through 31, and you can also include the day itself, which I haven’t done because I just use this as a reference. I don’t use it as my calendar but you can include the day of the week as well. And then in each box, what I do is I write in doctor’s appointments, I write in children’s activities, if I have a work call that I have to make perhaps on the 15th, I’ll write in the time and the person I need to make that call. If I have a birthday party to go to or if we have gymnastics to go to every Tuesday then that’s written into the schedule as well. And I keep this schedule in a binder on my workspace and I check it each night to see what I have coming up for the following day and I also check it in the morning to see where we’re going. And then, if things need to change, we can change them around but at least I can get a visual of what lies ahead.
