I have tried hard this past year to promote mother-owned companies, through both my writing and my website. On the website, I have set up a virtual storefront that allows mothers in business to sell their products and services for free. I also conduct a lot of interviews with mothers who own companies in hopes that these interviews will both serve as a way to promote the companies and to allow these mothers to share the things that they have learned with other mothers who are interested in starting a business.
Lately, an idea has been brewing in my mind, and while I was browsing one of the message boards that I frequent, another poster expressed that she, too had been thinking about the same thing. So out of a late night brainstorming session with this mother in business came our idea to host a California BusinessMom fair. Our event will feature booths of products and services that are sold by BusinessMoms. These products can be anything from hand made jewelry to mobile spa services. The BusinessMom fair is our way of promoting mothers in business; of giving these mothers a place to showcase their wares. It is important that we, as mothers, support other mothers in business, and this is our way of doing just that.
So mark your calendars! In July, if we have enough interested participants (and this number need not be high!), we will be hosting a Northern and Southern California BusinessMoms fair. The fairs will be held on the same day. The Northern California fair is taking place in Sacramento, while the Southern California fair will be held in or around the LA/Orange County area.
If you are a BusinessMom and you would be interested in participating in either the northern or southern event, please visit Today´s BusinessMom for more information. You can also email me at kmurdock@todaysbusinessmom.com and I will send out more information as it becomes available. All you need is a personal business and a desire to advertise and market your products or services! I will let you know how this event goes as the months rolls by.
Here´s to supporting all of our BusinessMoms! Happy Thursday, moms!
