Elogar.Org To Aid Elderly And Disadvantaged At No-Cost.

Business Leaders from Avatar Technology, an Austin-based company specializing in eLearning technologies for business, have founded Elogar.org, a charitable organization. Elogar is dedicated to improving the security and basic living comforts for disadvantaged and elderly residents. The volunteers install air conditioners, smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, child safety items, deadbolts, window locks, ceiling fans, fire extinguishers and heaters--all at no charge to the residents. Hardware and installation are also provided for free.

The organization's goal is first to add safety items to help secure the residence, and then improve temperature, air circulation and quality. Typical installations are performed on evenings or weekends in the Central Texas area Elogar's goal is to serve 1 million homes by 2005, and to have Elogar chapters nationwide by 2015. Elogar accepts hardware or financial donations as well as corporate sponsorships such as the one provided by the legal firm Jenkins & Gilchrist, P.C.

Elogar.org is limited by its current inventory and solely dependent on donations. Any person or organization can donate labor, materials or funding including credit card donations via the web site.
