Do you love chocolate? Richard and Bette Jo Menzel do. They turned their home into a profitable Chocolate Factory (move over Willy Wonka). It's not just any chocolate either -- Chocolate products that say 'New Hampshire'. According to the article:

The award-winning, candy-coated milk chocolate snacks are a salute to the state's granite composition and the region's miles of picturesque coastline. The "Granite Gourmet" product was recently awarded New Hampshire Magazine's "Best of 2007" editor's pick award for an edible souvenir.

Even in what would seem like a crowded market (gift confectionary), there are niches that can be used to build a home business around. In this case, they used the state's character itself to theme their business and products. Now before you go firing up that chocolate pot, note that they have obtained the proper licensing to run their business. In addition, they also revamped part of their house to properly store the delicious inventory.

I was just wondering if Richard and Bette entered the Home Based business ranking contest which is provided by startupnation.com? Seems like they would be good candidates to make the list.
