Agilent Transfers Product to Gerstel.
Muelheim an der Ruhr, Germany and Palo Alto, CA 6/22/01--Agilent has announced it will transfer the sales, support and development of its Agilent 4440 chemical sensor to Gerstel GmbH & Co. KG. The Agilent 4440 is a chemical sensor, or electronic nose, based on mass spectrometry for quality control applications, which the company introduced three years ago. Gerstel and Infometrix will offer hardware and software for the product. Agilent stated that the move is part of its strategy to focus on its core markets.
* This sale is part of Agilent's transition to serving life science and higher growth markets. However, Agilent did have a leading position in the e-nose market, in which its main competitor was Alpha MOS. Although called an electronic nose, this product was more GC based than other e-nose products.
