Pittcon 2003 marked the first year that the LIMS Institute and Pittcon have partnered to present Laboratory Informatics 2003 as a "conference-within-a-conference." Laboratory Informatics is the specialized application of information technology to optimize and extend laboratory operations. It encompasses all aspects of data flow in the laboratory, from data acquisition to data warehousing, including, chromatography data systems (CDS), laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and electronic laboratory notebooks. Laboratory informatics is also concerned with the legal and regulatory requirements surrounding laboratory data.
