Hampton, NH 7/31/02 -- As part of its second quarter 2002 earnings release, Fisher Scientific announced it has acquired Netherlands distributor Retsch BV and its associated distributor Emergo. The company's annual revenues total approximately $14 million. Fisher stated that the acquisition will
Fisher stated that the acquisition is part of a restructuring of its Belgium and Netherlands operations, and that Retsch BV management will take a larger role in Fisher's European organization. The move may also be designed to counter VWR's strong European distribution business.
