Good scout

I enjoyed [Lance Secretan's] article "Hope vs Cynicism," Nov. 6, Page 23. I am deeply involved in Boy Scouts and am including the lessons and examples [he offers] in the article as part of our troop's upcoming Junior Leader Training course. I believe there is an excellent match with

the aims and purposes scouting teaches about leadership. Nice job!

Your magazine provides interesting reading and new perspectives that are helpful in evaluating options on the future of our company. On the other hand, comments provided by Joe Romm [executive director of the Center for Energy and Climate Solutions, Washington,] in "Internet unleashes energy savings" [Briefing, Nov. 6, Page 11 ] strike me as theories by an "expert" who rarely leaves his office.

I don't believe inventories have been dramatically reduced. Instead they are being held by a myriad of fulfillment (distribution) companies and subcontract manufacturers. They build huge warehouses, tie up their money, and make frequent deliveries to the manufacturing companies they serve. The inventory is still there, it is just on someone else's balance sheet.
