Simple and Frugal Gift Idea for Neighbors and Coworkers

Wednesday, December 3 2008

The economy is leading many to cut back on their gift-giving this year. It is still possible to give heartfelt gifts, however. Here is a video answering a reader question about simple and frugal gifts for neighbors and coworkers. (See below for additional information.)

Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix comes from Holiday Jar Mixes by Wilma Teal and Andra Roberts. There are a ton of different recipes in there. Well worth the $1.99 charged by Christianbook.com.

Also, another great idea is dessert in a cup. You can make such things as peach crisp (my favorite) with a mix that you put in a coffee mug and decorate the mug. There are many ideas (from soup to pasta to fudge to cake) in The Cup Collection by Jackie Gannaway (available for $3.95).

Finally, the evergreen is a symbol of everlasting life. It has, of course, come to represent the life of Christ, and the everlasting life he promises his followers. However, decorating trees predates Christ: Pagans decorated trees to the gods in ancient times. Find more information on Christmas symbols here, here and here.
