Apr. 29--BEN B. CHENEY FOUNDATION AWARDS $40,000 SCHOLARSHIP: The Ben B. Cheney Foundation, based in Tacoma, has awarded $40,000 to Gonzaga University in Spokane for scholarships.

The Ben B. Cheney Merit Scholarships assist academically talented students in the fields of engineering, business and law.

The foundation was established in 1955 to help meet a broad range of philanthropic needs.
