Composite yarn offers more comfortable cut-resistance.(Safety and protection)

Japan's Showa Glove Co has invented a composite yarn intended for cut-resistant applications such as protective fabrics, clothes, aprons and gloves. The company from Himeji says that its yarn offers superior moisture absorption and can be more readily knitted than its rivals.

International Patent WO 2007/015333 (European Patent EP 1 780 318) describes the yarn as having a core comprising a thin metal wire wrapped (5-60 turns a metre) by a filament yarn. This core is then wrapped by a covering layer.
