Tv Talk Adelphia Communications Corp. Is The Latest Mso To Enter Into A National Cable Carriage Agreement For Paxson Communication's New Family-friendly Network, Pax Tv. In A Separate Deal, Adelphia Has Agreed To Offer Better Channel Positioning For Pax Tv On Those Of Its Systems That Will Carry The Network Via A Paxson Broadcast Tv Station.

Adelphia is the sixth cable operator to agree to distribute PAX TV in the past two months. Paxson will launch PAX TV at noon Aug. 31.



ABC and Columbia TriStar TV announced plans for an epic, eight-hour miniseries "Parting the Waters"

based on Pulitzer Prize-winner Taylor Branch's best-selling book series about the Civil Rights movement. Branch will serve as an executive producer, along with civil rights activist Harry Belafonte.

"Taylor Branch's work brilliantly chronicles the people and events central to the great struggle for civil rights in America," said Helen Verno, executive vp movies and miniseries at Columbia TriStar TV. Based on "Parting the Waters" and "Pillar of Fire," the miniseries will focus on 1960-65 following Martin Luther King Jr. and such figures as President Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Malcolm X.



Edward Dandridge of Edelman Public Relations will join ABC as vp network communications and public relations planning. He will oversee East Coast and West Coast network communications. Dandridge fills the position vacated by Sherrie Rollins, who left ABC last month to join Children's Television Workshop.



LMNO Prods. has hired Jeff Rice as director of postproduction to help prepare the company for the future of high-definition television. He'll develop LMNO's strategy for HDTV production and postproduction and also coordinate the postproduction efforts on LMNO's current slate of shows.

"Jeff has a strong working knowledge of this very complex subject," said Eric Schotz, CEO of LMNO Prods. LMNO produces a variety of primetime programs, including CBS series "Kids Say the Darndest Things" hosted by Bill Cosby; "Behind Closed Doors With Joan Lunden" for ABC; and Fox summer series "Guinness World Records: Primetime."



Actor Corey Page ("Dead Man on Campus") has been cast in the title role of MTV pilot "Iggy Vile, M.D." The half-hour comedy follows the life of a punk rocker/medical doctor with an on-air surgery show.

Page stars opposite Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tom Everett Scott in the Paramount teen comedy "Dead Man on Campus." He also completed the independent drama "Mascara" with Ione Skye and Amanda DeCadnet.

Page was in ABC daytime dramas "Loving" and "The City."



Michele Roberts has been named entertainment producer for "Good Morning America." A segment producer at the morning show since 1992, Roberts began her career at "GMA" as an associate segment producer in 1988. Before that, she worked at "Entertainment Tonight" and Rona Barrett
