AT&T has received close to 1 million requests for Apple's iPhone, the company's COO Randall Stephenson said during his keynote speech Tuesday at the CTIA wireless technology conference in Orlando.

"One million people have asked us to call when this phone is available," he said.

>Cingular, which is the largest wireless service in the U.S. and will soon be rebranded as AT&T, will be the exclusive home of Apple's new music-playing device when it comes out in June.

The AT&T announcement was just some of the mobile-related news that came out the first day of the conference dedicated exclusively to wireless, broadband and mobile computing technologies.

As part of its new NBCU Digital2Go initiative, NBC Universal announced the launch of four new mobile Web (WAP) sites for NBC, USA, Bravo and NBC Sports.

"With the launch of our mobile Web sites, NBC Universal will have a new platform to develop its direct relationship with mobile consumers," said Salil Dalvi, GM wireless platforms at NBC Universal.

NBC Universal and MobiTV announced a deal this month making full-length primetime episodes available on-demand and via mobile phones for the first time.

New mobile game initiatives based on popular TV shows also were announced Tuesday.

Mobile game developer Gameloft secured a licensing deal with NBC Uni to develop "Heroes: The Mobile Game," based on the network's popular drama. The game, based on events from the show's first season, has writers of the network series contributing to the premise.

E! Entertainment will launch its first mobile trivia game with "The E! True Hollywood Trivia." Based on the network's documentary series "The E! True Hollywood Story," the game will be available for download next month.

The CW, in collaboration with mobile 3G technology company Artificial Life, is set to launch the "America's Next Top Model Cycle 8" mobile game. The game, which integrates avatars, also incorporates minigames based on modeling challenges from the network show after each week's broadcast episode airs.

Additionally on Tuesday, Yahoo! Inc. announced an advertising alliance with broadband and mobile content provider MobiTV, making Yahoo! the ad network partner for MobiTV's mobile video advertising sales and delivery service.

Meanwhile, mobile TV provider GoTV Networks said Tuesday that Motorola Ventures, the venture capital arm of Motorola Inc., has taken an equity stake in the company. Although terms of the deal weren't disclosed, GoTV Networks CEO David Bluhm said the investment validates GoTV Networks' position in the marketplace.

"We're excited to have strategic investments from two of the largest providers of wireless technology," Bluhm said.
