WEThis nine-part reality series chronicles the dating adventures of 12 New York singles. Compared to racier syndicated and even network dating shows, this WE: Women's Entertainment series is fairly tame and tearless.
Sure, there's a close-up of large tube-topped breasts, and the subsequent top tugging, as well another woman's self-cupping of breasts, while noting they need to be "taped up" since 29 (her age) wasn't being kind to her mammaries. That same woman, super confident as most of these profiled are, says of men: "I hate the breed, until you get horny," and laughs raucously.
But, in general, the first episode offers up a group of refreshingly regular-looking white twentysomethings, who, unfortunately, resemble each other a little too much to keep track of who's who. The men especially are hard to tell apart, though the "nice" one and the "player" (the ridiculously named Trip, who refers to girl friends as "good talent") are quickly established.
The liveliest and most attractive are the only salute to ethnicity, a trio of black women who live in Brooklyn and are -- surprise -- aspiring performers.
One of the best features of the series is the loving location shots of Manhattan, a kind of homage to the city.
