Tribune Entertainment has inked separate deals to distribute DIC Kids' Network, a three-hour animated block designed to meet FCC guidelines for children's programming, as well as the most recent episodes of hidden-camera series "Candid Camera."

Under terms of the deal

with DIC Entertainment, Tribune will syndicate domestically DIC Kids' Network, a block of six animated half-hour shows from DIC's library of more than 3,200 half-hours of animated programming. DIC previously was distributing the block. In addition, Tribune will continue to exclusively represent all domestic barter sales through 2008.

"It's such a tremendous library to feed off of," said Steve Mulderrig, executive vp domestic and cable sales at Tribune. "It really makes it turnkey for stations. … All the FCC requirements are being covered without having to do anything or worry about it. It's educating and entertaining at the same time."

The block, which was launched in September 2003, airs on more than 450 stations, including Fox, WB Network and UPN affiliates. It includes such shows as "The Smurfs," "Liberty's Kids," "Inspector Gadget's Field Trip" and "Berenstain Bears."

"We offer a one-of-a-kind children's programming option to stations and a one-stop-shop for advertisers," DIC chairman and CEO Andy Heyward said. "Given this dynamic combination, we have no doubt that Tribune will be successful in expanding the penetration of the DIC Kids' Network across the U.S."

Tribune's distribution deal for "Candid Camera" includes the most recent 137 half-hour episodes and three one-hour specials, which originally aired on CBS and Pax.

"With all the reality shows on TV today, this is very refreshing programming," Mulderrig said.

The episodes are hosted by Peter Funt, son of Allen Funt, the original host and creator of "Candid Camera," which made its TV debut in 1948.

Dina Eastwood, wife of Clint Eastwood, and Suzanne Somers also appear as co-hosts.
