Jennifer Aniston has been named ShoWest 2005's Female Star of the Year, said Mitch Neuhauser, co-managing director of the event. Aniston will be presented with the award at ShoWest's closing-night ceremony March 17 in Las Vegas.
"Jennifer is an amazing actress who has
entertained moviegoers and TV viewers alike for over 15 years," Neuhauser said Friday. "She is a multitalented actress who has the undeniable ability to entertain audiences across the world. We are delighted to recognize her for all of her amazing work by presenting her with the ShoWest Female Star of the Year award."
Best known for the TV hit "Friends," Aniston has been on a roll in the film department lately with upcoming features including Warner Bros. Pictures' romantic comedy "Rumor Has It" and the Miramax drama "Derailed." Aniston was most recently seen in "Along Came Polly," "Bruce Almighty" and "The Good Girl."
Last year, Aniston completed her 10th and final season on "Friends," where her role as Rachel Green earned her five Emmy nominations and one win.
ShoWest's previously announced award recipients include Catalina Sandino Moreno, who will be honored as ShoWest's International Star of the Year; Pixar's Brad Bird, who will receive the Animation Director of the Year award; Bernie Mac, who will receive the Comedy Star of the Year award; Hayden Christensen, who was named Male Star of Tomorrow; and Jessica Biel, who was named Female Star of Tomorrow.
