Konami Digital Entertainment is set to announce today that Linda Osher has been appointed to the newly created position of vp content licensing, effective immediately. The move underscores the video game giant's commitment to Hollywood.
Osher will be based at the company's
new headquarters in Century City and will report to KDE chief executive Kazumi Kitaue.
Kitaue said the location is important to Konami's plans for the future as it brought the company "close to where the action is" for entertainment industry partnerships.
Osher will be responsible for content licensing, including creating and negotiating new opportunities in all forms of entertainment.
"The success of video games has redefined the partnerships within the film, book, TV and music communities," she said. "It's exciting to be working at KDE at a time where we are seeing more collaboration among these different entertainment segments."
Konami licensed its best-selling horror franchise "Silent Hill" to Davis Films with producer Samuel Hadida and director Christophe Gans attached. The company's other titles include the popular "Metal Gear Solid" and "Castlevania" franchises.
Before joining Konami, Osher ran LJO Music Consulting, which provided music clearance and marketing services to such clients as Nissan of North America, Walt Disney TV Animation and Lifetime Television. She also was director of music licensing at the Walt Disney Motion Picture Group, where she worked on "Sister Act," "What's Love Got to Do With It," "The Horse Whisperer," "High Fidelity" and other titles.
