Choreographers Step Up With Noms

Choreographers Fatima Robinson, Michael Rooney and Debra Brown and ABC's Jennifer Garner-starring spy series "Alias" are just a few of the double nominees for the eighth annual American Choreography Awards.

Presented by the Academy of Dance on Film, the awards will

be handed out Oct. 20 at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. Scheduled to receive special honors at the ceremony are Henry LeTang with the educator award, Marge and Gower Champion with the career achievement award and Jackie Chan with the innovator award.

The nominated crop of choreographers:

Outstanding achievement in television — variety or special: "Aeros," Daniel Ezralow, Moses Pendleton and David Parsons; "Madonna Live: The Drowned World Tour," Jamie King, Alexandre Magno and Debra Brown; "Opening Ceremony — Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games," Kenny Ortega, Sarah Kawahara and Doug Jack; "The 74th Annual Academy Awards," Debra Brown; "The M.C. Hammer Story," Russell Clark.

Outstanding achievement in music video: Aaliyah's "More Than a Woman," Fatima Robinson; Aaliyah's "Rock the Boat," Fatima Robinson; Britney Spears' "Slave 4 U," Wade Robson and Brian Friedman; Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head," Michael Rooney; Skinnee J's "Grown Up," Michael Rooney; Usher's "You Don't Have to Call," Anwar "Flii" Burton, Rosero McCoy, Jamal Sims, Todd Sams, Earl "Punch" Wright and Russell "Goofy" Wright.

Outstanding achievement in commercials: Coldwell Banker's "Tango," Mia Michaels; Reebok's "Time Out," Anne Fletcher; Rubbermaid's "Soldier," Vincent Paterson; Target's "Swiffer," Patti Colombo; VISA's "Broadway," Wayne Cilento.

Outstanding achievement in episodic television: "Ally McBeal" ("Reality Bites"), Joseph Malone; "Even Stevens" ("Influenza: The Musical"), Kim Blank; "Scrubs" ("My Way or the Highway"), Lance Macdonald; "That '70s Show" ("That '70s Musical"), Marguerite Derricks; "Wayne Brady Show" ("Episode 100"), Stevie Ray Anthony.

Outstanding achievement in fight choreography: "Alias" ("The Pilot"), John Medlen; "Alias" ("Snowman"), David M. Morizot; "Angel" ("A New World"), Mike Massa; "Deuces Wild," Todd Bryant and Pete Antico; "15 Minutes," Charles Picerni Sr.; "Spider-Man," John Medlen.

Outstanding achievement in short film: "Case Studies From the Groat Center for Sleep Disorders," Ashley Roland, James Hampton and Mitchell Rose; "Measure," Gaelen Hanson and Dayna Hanson; "Modern Daydreams," Ashley Roland, James Hampton and Mitchell Rose; "Threnody," Vincent Paterson.

Outstanding achievement in feature film: "Hedwig & the Angry Inch," Jerry Mitchell; "Lagaan," Saroj Khan, Raju Khan, Ganesh Hegde, Vaibhavi Merchant, Terence Lewis and John Mortimer; "Monsoon Wedding," Farah Khan.
