Caa Music Man Light Named To Agency's Board

Rob Light, CAA's head of music, has been appointed to the agency's management board. Light is the first new board member to be named in six years.

Additionally, as a sign of CAA's ongoing commitment to music, Light is the first music department head to be named to such a post. He joins board members Richard Lovett, Lee Gabler, Kevin Huvane, Bryan Lourd, David O'Connor and Rick Nicita.

Light joined CAA as a music agent in 1984 and was named head of the department in 1998. Light oversees the music departments of CAA's Beverly Hills and Nashville offices.

"Rob is a tremendous leader," CAA president Lovett said. "He has reinvigorated our music department and taken it to great new places in terms of new divisions and service areas. We critically needed music represented on the board because the music department and Rob are so central to our ongoing strategy and our growth strategies in areas that we're pursuing that involve new business and new ideas for the company."

Under Light, CAA has been especially focused on offering its music clients media crossover services, including placement in film and TV soundtracks, scoring features and new-media opportunities. Also, such CAA clients as Jon Bon Jovi, Aaliyah and Reba McEntire have successfully crossed over into acting careers.

"I think it's great for the music division to be represented in this way, and it's a real statement about the agency's belief in this department," Light said. "Everything now weaves into each other; film and television and music all cross-pollinate."

CAA's music clients include Christina Aguilera, Barbra Streisand, John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan, Ozzy Osbourne, Radiohead, Blink-182, Santana, Eric Clapton, Alanis Morissette, Destiny's Child and TLC. The agency's Nashville office reps such country stars as Shania Twain, Alan Jackson, Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Jessica Andrews, Jamie O'Neal and Alecia Elliott.

Light and his team also have been integrally involved with such massive concert events as Ozzfest, the Vans Warped Tour, the Watcha Tour and the Yahoo! Music Tour.
