Roger Kumble ("Cruel Intentions") has come aboard to direct "The Ugly Truth" for Steven Reuther's Bel-Air Entertainment. The project is aimed to go into production in late fall.

Written by Nicole Eastman, "Truth" is about a woman working as a general manager at a TV

station who hires an obnoxious host of a late-night cable show to help her find the man of her dreams. Instead, the two end up falling in love. Tracey Jackson penned the most recent draft of the script.

Debra Newmyer and Kimberly di Bonaventura are producing the project with Reuther.

The project has been a priority for Bel-Air for about a year and a half. At one point, it garnered interest from such actors as Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck and director Barry Sonnenfeld.

Kumble, repped by UTA and 3 Arts Entertainment's Daniel Rappaport, recently wrapped shooting Columbia Pictures' "The Sweetest Thing" starring Cameron Diaz.
