Former Castle Rock and New World Entertainment executive Al Linton has been named chief operating officer for GRB Entertainment Group.
Linton will oversee day-to-day operations at the fast-growing indie production company, which has recently beefed up its development
staff as it looks to expand beyond original cable fare into network primetime, syndication and home video.
German media outfit Axel Springer recently invested $20 million for a 50% stake in GRB, which was founded in 1987 by producer Gary Benz.
"Al is a guy with tremendous experience and credibility," said Benz, GRB's president and CEO. "He will make this company operate smoothly, and that will free me up to create and develop and sell shows."
Linton has spent the past several years as a financial consultant, following a stint as chief financial officer at Castle Rock Entertainment and a four-year hitch as chief financial officer of New World Entertainment. Earlier in his career, Linton worked for Columbia Pictures and Cinema Five Corp.
