Eminem: not Family friendly
The Family Violence Prevention Fund launched a campaign against rap star Eminem, who has four Grammy noms, including
best album for "The Marshall Mathers LP," and has been asked to perform during the telecast Feb. 21. "We're viewing this as a very logical outcry against a recording that is pretty extreme and offends a lot of people," said Michael Greene, president of the Recording Academy. The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation said it plans to rally outside Staples Center the night of the Grammys. Greene has been in talks with GLAAD and said, "The closer we get to the show we'll be making some announcement about the partnerships that are coming together to be a little more proactive." He said protests are nothing new to the Grammys. Expect a ring of security around Staples Center on Grammy night. (Tamara Conniff)
One more time
Kristin Davis' television marriage on HBO's "Sex and the City" has a future, as Kyle MacLachlan has said "Alrighty" to the offer to reprise his role of Trey, the libido-deprived husband of Davis' character, Charlotte. MacLachlan, for whom "Sex and the City" is the first TV series since his Golden Globe-winning role on "Twin Peaks," will play the recurring role in the Darren Star show's upcoming fourth season. He's repped by ICM and Industry Entertainment. (Nellie Andreeva)
SciFi futurists
SciFi Channel executive vp and general manager Bonnie Hammer is in talks with "Babylon 5" creator J. Michael Straczynski and producer Douglas Netter about possible future TV projects, a network spokeswoman confirmed. The spokeswoman would not describe the scope of the projects but did say a "Babylon 5" reunion was not among them. Coincidentally, the network recently began running a letterbox version of "Babylon 5," and it has been well-received by fans, the spokeswoman said. (Steven J. Stark)
