Universal Pictures has acquired "The Untitled House of Horrors Project," a treatment from the Universal-based management-production duo of Jon Berg and Damien Saccani as well as indie producer Julie Plec.
"Horrors" is the first project Berg and Saccani have set up since
signing their first-look deal with Universal (HR 1/18).
"Horrors," currently out to writers, is about a group who engage in a role-playing game by re-enacting a real-life murder in the house in which it took place. When one of them winds up dead, the game continues, but the stakes are driven higher.
Universal executive vp production Mary Parent and director of development Tim O'Hair are overseeing the project.
Berg and Saccani, former directors of development at Universal, will produce through their Berg-Saccani Entertainment.
Plec, who co-produced Sony Classics' upcoming "The Broken Hearts Club," was recently tapped to head up production and development for Columbia Pictures-based Ricky Strauss and his Ricochet Entertainment (HR 8/1). Plec is also in business with Universal on "Her Leading Man," a project in development that Kevin Williamson will produce and she is attached to co-produce.
